Jinghong, meaning “City of Dawn” in the Dai language, is the capital of the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. Its history dates back over 800 years. Jinghong has long been the political, economic and cultural center of the region and has a population of around 40,000.

Lijiang is located in the northwest of Yunnan Province and is the traditional residence of the Naxi and Lishu people. Lijiang has a history going back more than 800 years and was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road.
