Events around Venice

IN PRAISE OF DOUBT - Punta della Dogana

The centre of contemporary art, Punta della Dogana - François Pinault Foundation, hosts the exhibition curated by Caroline Both, “In praise of doubt”. The historical works and new productions on display explore the idea of uncertainty, the theme of identity, and the relationship between intimate space and the space of artwork. The exhibition “In praise of doubt“ runs until 31 December 2012 and is open daily, except Tuesdays and 24-25 December, from 10am until 7pm (last entry 6pm).

VENICE CARNIVAL

The tradition of the Carnival in Venice began in the 11th century. Celebrated during the two weeks preceding Lent, the Venice Carnival attracts people from the world over to attend its famed private and public masked balls. Masked revelers of all ages invade the city's "campi" where music, dancing, and theatrical performances delight both local residents and visitors. The next edition of Venice Carnival will take place from 26 January to 12 February 2013.

HISTORICAL REGATA

The Historical Regata is an important traditional and sports event that takes place along the Grand Canal in Venice on the first Sunday of September.
A picturesque historical procession on the Grand Canal evokes the grandeur of the Serenissima, followed by fiercely contested regatas in water craft indigenous to Venice.
The Historical Regata will take place on 2 September 2012.
