Pretoria or “the Jacaranda City” for the locals is a lovely, quiet, and fairly compact city which is mainly characterized by its beautiful purple blossom-bedecked trees. In this city, you can find significant old buildings, long-established very well-to-do suburban neighborhoods, and fascinating museums of long and interesting history, which hold Africa’s fossil collection and constantly displays new and exciting exhibitions. The Transvaal Museum and the National Cultural History Museum, now known as “the African Window”, are a must see. This last one especially is renowned to be a great touristic attraction. The creative ways in which the art works are displayed and the ways through which it promotes living culture through song, dance, drama and visual arts festivals, are some of the things that make this museum so appreciated and a fantastic touristic attraction.
